We are almost there. The builders have done a great job and the centre is virtually water tight now except for a few broken window panes. This week sees more work to update the windows and doors on the hall side of the centre. At the same time we are finishing further installation of our new audio-visual equipment and completing the decorating in several of our function rooms. Early next week will see the installation of our new coffee bar in the main auditorium as well as carpets in several areas.
We are hoping to hold our first Sunday meeting on Sunday 21st April at 10:30am.
Week four of the contracted works is well underway with a good chunk of the roofing workings now being complete. The electrical installation is progressing well and following the removal of asbestos from the boiler room, we are expecting Scottish Power to replace the bank of outdated meters and redundant boxes with a new power supply and single three-phase meter. Also this week, our tree surgeon will be visiting the site to get rid of many of the trees damaging the walls, the paths and the drains which have now been completed repaired and refurbished. Work on the new toilets is due to start soon.
On the heating front, we have commissioned a new central heating boiler for the small hall side of the building so we can supply heat to the whole side of the building including the new toilets and creche facility. This will also supply hot water to the toilet hand basins and the kitchen.
A lot of work is going on behind the scenes too in order to plan the phase two developments at the building inclusing the furnishing of the individual rooms, the development of an office facility and a large cental projection screen.
